Lincoln Daily News Stormy Weather Outlet Outlet
Just when it seemed the weather forecast was bad for a fresh-faced Republican — particularly if he's the youthful party's presidential nominee — a sunny future awaits a new Lincoln Daily News banner headline that praises the GOP ticket as “rainy but hopeful.”
The banner was taped to a nearby building Tuesday. The newspaper's editorial staff said the banner was put up by a volunteer with the Lincoln Entertainers, a spinoff group of the Republican Party. They planned to remove it later this week.
The paper's editors were not available for comment.
Lincoln Entertainers was founded by Kris Luker, who created the Lincoln Town Crier in 2007 after his previous venture, the Lincoln Entertainers, was destroyed by a tornado in 2007.
In April, Luker announced he was stepping down as president.
It was not clear when the banner was placed up but it appears to have been taken down since the exit announcement. A look at the comments left on the Lincoln Entertainers Facebook page Tuesday evening indicates the banner was taken down within hours of the news.
